I thought the guest mom did a pretty great job holding her own - the other guests were an HSLDA lawyer and a Stanford Social Scientist.

I agree -- the HSing mom was really great, at least from :20 to the end of the show. I missed the first 20 minutes. The panel was very balanced, in my opinion.
The Stanford guy, Rob Reich (http://www.stanford.edu/~reich/publications.htm), has written things like "Why Homeschooling Should Be Regulated", "Testing the Boundaries of Parental Authority Over Education: The Case of Homeschooling", and "The Civic Perils of Homeschooling".
I ground my teeth from time to time, but overall it was a really good discussion, being broadcast to the many listeners of public radio (including myself, obviously, lol).
