Help with dry erase boards

I need some suggestions on how to get my dry erase markers to work on our dry erase boards. I have been using rubbing alcohol or just water to clean the boards instead of using the store bought cleaner. The problem is that when I use alcohol to clean them and then try to write on the boards none of the ink transfers to the board. When I use water to clean them the ink transfers to the board but then the erasers won't erase the ink from the board. TIA.

Have you tried using white vinegar? It should remove the alcohol residue so your markers will write again.
