If I were to purchase Warriner's English for my son going into 10th, what would I need?
I went to e-bay and there are tons of different types and editions, but I'm not sure what is needed.
Thanks,
Melissa

I'm pretty sure you would use 4th course. I have 2nd and 3rd and they say 8th & 9th.

If you have a good grasp of grammar, and if your son has studied it before, you might be able to use the Complete Course (12th grade). It goes more rapidly through the concepts than the lower levels, and if you or your son need more drill, getting a lower level text is helpful. If something goes too quickly, I drop down to the lower level text for more practice--but if you are only buying one book, you won't be able to do that.
For the "average" student, I'd go with whatever grade he is in. If your child has had a good amount of grammar in the past, and you want to pick the subject up again for a good review, the Complete Course would be great! 10th grade would be 4th Course.
If you've never "done" grammar, you might prefer a lower level.
My 8th grader did the 2nd course this year (even though he'd gone through the 6th grade R&S). My 11th grader is doing the Complete Course.

Warriner's Models and Exercises in Writing. These are paperbacks with excellent writing instruction. I was just looking through my copies this morning to start with two of my dc. I'm hoping to find the upper levels --
5th or Complete Course.
