OK, long story short, I have a friend who is trying to get an expitated (sp?) passport and having a hard time. Anyone ever have this problem? If so, is there anything to do that can help? It's a passport for a child, they will be moving and need to file for their visa like today, and still are waiting for this passport. Evey phone call goes to a mindless call center and she's getting no help. Where can you go to "go up the chain of command"? I know a couple of you have been through this and hopefully you'll have some ideas.
Thanks
Melissa

I know that was an option a couple of years ago. Other than that, I can't help you. Maybe someone else will have ideas?
Is this family military?

the State department since that's who handles these things. If you get no help there, call your congressmen/women to see what other options might be.

If they didn't pay for expedited service, it might not help now to get anyone else involved. When we were getting passports for our dc, we paid the expedited fee and had them in about one week.

No, they did pay for the expedited service. They have contacted for more info (which has been provided), but it's been over four weeks and it's still not showing up as being processed. Thanks for your help.

Last year my son and I needed new passports and I realized that the passport processing time was taking much longer than it was last time. At that point we were too late to apply for expedited service via the mail, so we had to go directly to a Passport Agency. Three days before our trip, we went directly to a Passport Agency and received the new passports in hand the same day. Although we did make an appointment, there were lots of people there who had not. They just walked in and got what they needed the same day.

I hope it works out. :)
