My 6 y/o is very into drawing, specifically the how to's and wants to get into color, shading, etc.. I was orginally planning on using Evan Moore's How to Teach Art to Children (I have it, but last year felt he was too young and used Draw Write Now instead), but the Phonics of Drawing has caught my eye. Which would you use and why?

I'd like to know if anyone has tried this program out, as well. I googled it and came to this site that is selling it:

http://www.teachartathome.com/PODCD.html

You can buy the first CD for $23.99. Its the first part of the 4-part Masterpiece CD collection ($59.99). They're offering a special today: 20% off your order over $50.00. There's also a coupon code for an additional $5.00 off. Tempting.....

Oh, and they have a sample lesson you can look at and download. I'd love to hear what people think.:bigear:

I really like the Phonics for Drawing, I watched the demo last night. My middle would also like the Masterpiece Jr. CD. I keep flip flopping, order just the phonics for drawing, no order the set, as it will eventually be used - LOL.

Ok, I've searched back a ways, & I found this thread: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/search.php?searchid=220766

but nothing else so far. Looks like everybody's interested & waiting for somebody else to try it.:001_huh:

I didn't order it yesterday because RR has it for $19.99, the site had it for $23.99 (20% off) and most likely had shipping charges. So for now it's on my RR wish list, I do have one last order to place with logic and test prep books for next year. I'm waffling because it looks like the same concepts are in the Evan Moor book I have, but I do like it. I hope someone posts once they try it.

Just bumping this up because I'm curious about what age you recommend this for. It's listed for ages 6-adult. Is it pretty advanced for a 6 year old?
