I just saw this mentioned on another thread. How exactly is it set up?
Thanks,

Here is their site:

AIUI, you can only purchase Tal Am if you the teachers who will be using the program go through their training.
Although I have heard of homeschoolers doing (or at least considering doing) this, I honestly cannot see this being used other than by Jews... it isn't just a Hebrew language program and, given the way J4J and similar groups are viewed, I have trouble imagining them accepting anyone from that background/with those aims.
That sounds awfully harsh. I don't want to come across as attacking you!
Because the majority of "messianic" movements are funded by Xtian proselytizers and engage in deceptive attempts to win over Jews to their belief system, any organization identifying that way is suspect - in a way no other Xtian organization is.
I am not in any way trying to imply that you (or ELaurie!) belong to a group which would act this way, but a Jewish organization would not have had the privilege of meeting you personally and knowing that your interest was to enrich your own lives and worship -not to entrap anyone! ..and I would not want you to encounter that response without having been warned.
{For anyone else interested, there is a similar program, aimed a little older: Neta (http://www.netahebrew.org/) - which also requires teacher training.}
I don't have any helpful leads... all the materials I use, I get through networking with the Jewish Day school system, and they are all predicated on an Orthodox Jewish environment. I wish I could be more helpful!

Oh you don't sound harsh. I totally understand what you are saying. I've been involved with the Messianic movement for about 8 yrs now and I'm very familiar with Jewish christian relations. If it requires teacher training then I most likely won't do it. I guess if they offered it around here then It would be a possibility, so long as it didn't cost an arm and a leg. Our congregation is on good terms with several orthodox Jews living in Israel and so I wonder if a letter of recommendation that says we don't try to proselytize would help. it seems Hebrew is the one area really lacking in the homeschool language curriculums. There are tons of Latin and Greek curriculums but Hebrew tends to get left out. The lady who wrote The Easy French and The Easy Spanish is Messianic and I keep hoping that she will come out with The Easy Hebrew. I e-mailed her a long time ago about it, but I never heard back. I also E-mailed the writers of Hey Andrew Teach me some Greek and they said that they have had quite a few requests for Hebrew, but they are trying to finish up their Greek Program before they even think about doing a Hebrew. Maybe one day.....

Their training locations for the next year are listed on the web site under the 'training' tab.
Yes, a letter of reference could make an enormous difference.
I wish there were a strong spoken Hebrew program out there! I'm fine with the resources we have for teaching Chumash and Rashi, though my son will probably have a tutor for Aramaic/Gemara (I don't think my husband will have enough time to devote to it, though he will certainly chip in.), but the Pimsleur is the best spoken language resource out there, and it isn't a good fit for kids!
Thank you, my dear for being so sweet! I didn't want to say such mean-sounding things, but I hated the thought of you getting a negative response and not knowing what was going on! Thank you for hearing the positive intention!

Is you are wanting to learn Hebrew, this might be of some help and is a free download:
http://foundationstone.com.au/
Here is another that has a limited free online version for learning the aleph-bet and a paid full download version for $9.95. I have done the free one and liked it, as did the kids.

I e-mailed the lady who wrote The Easy French about her writing a Hebrew program again and she answered me this morning. She said that they plan on doing a Hebrew program once they finish up their German that they are working on. She said that if all goes as planned then the Hebrew will be out in about 2-3 yrs. I will be praying that it does work out that way because that will have it coming out right at the age I really want my son to start learning it.
