I'm looking for some recommendations, please.

I want something that dh and I can read, ourselves, as well as something we could hand to the children as they come of such an age. Uh, not necessarily in the same book, sorry, that was kind of confusing.

Something that defines what courtship is as well as a sort of 'guideline'.

Any help?

I Kissed Dating Goodbye by Josh Harris is a good one.

I've heard a lot about that one. That would be something for later down the road and something for dh and I to read now...but I don't think so much for my Eldest right now, you?

Sorry, I should have mentioned age(s). My Eldest ds is soon to be 11 and the next is coming up on 9. Just thinking about doing *something* here with Eldest soon.

you might try www.biblicalwomanhood.com - she and her dh share their courtship story on there.

Also, do an online search for Christian courtship books. I'm sure you'll find a few good ones there. My mind is blank right now and I need to finish math with my ds.

Passion and Purity by Elizabeth Elliott was inspiring to me (as an adult). We gave The Princess and the Kiss to our little ones. I'll be interested in reading recommendations for pre- and adolescents . . .

I just did Passport 2 Purity (http://www.familylife.com/passporttopurity/)with my 11 year old last weekend. Not exactly "courtship" but a fun and easy way to have a frank "birds/bees" talk and challenge your 11 ir 12 year old to begin thinking about a decision for Biblical purity. There are audio cd's, discussion questions, object lessons and more. It is very well laid out and organized.

We loved it!

We went though his courtship tapes as a group. He handles it well, giving why instead of how. I steer clear of books that give exact "how's" because that is up to each family and the instruction the Lord gives them.

I haven't read this, but my dd read it when she was 9 and liked it a lot. It is called The Courtship of Sarah McLean and it is a fiction story.

I highly recommend Dating vs Courtship by Paul Jehle. It's an insightful Biblical look at the subject and gives teens (and adults) a solid understanding of the principles involved.

I gave this and I Kissed Dating Goodbye to my dd to read as a teen and let her draw her own conclusions. She later told me that she felt the Harris book was more of "this worked for me" and Jehle's book gave her Biblical reasons for choosing to court.

Joshua Harris has a couple of books out, besides I Kissed Dating Good-bye. I haven't read them, but have heard good things about them. Not sure of the titles, but it'd be easy-peasy to just look him up on amazon. :)

Thanks gals!
I only had Harris' stuff to go on. It's nice to have other titles and authors to look for.

I read and then gave to my dd to read "Emotional Purity" by Heather Arnel Paulsen. She had a very postive response to the book :)
