Would anyone have any suggestions on what to use as a "textbook type source" for a photography class? My daughter is needing one half credit to complete her freshman year. She absolutely loves taking pictures, is very creative and original in taking snapshots, and I would love to be able and utilize this passion of hers by giving her credit for it. If I remember correctly, I recall someone suggesting some sort of book that could be used but I've slept since then. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone has any ideas! Thanks a bunch!

Not a text, but we used this photography unit study.

and this book as our main text

The unit study was very helpful as it gave me ideas for student assignments. It was more on the art of photography though so it would probably not be helpful if you are looking for something more technical like how to develop film. It also was broken down into daily assignments. Hope this helps a little.

Thank you so much ladies for the recommendations! I'm going to check them out now. The daily assignment ideas would be a great help. Blessings to each of you!

Oak Meadow has a photography course. The syllabus is only $25. It isn't a very thick book, but it focuses on a different aspect of photography each week and gives an assignment for each week. It's designed as a one semester course.

Not a book, but you might search for a mentor in your area who can show her how to develop her own film. My dh has done this for a homeschooler who was going into wedding photography. Then she went off to spend a year in college learning how to start her own business.
Also, my ds and dh did photography as part of last year's "shop class" and one thing they did was tromp around in the snow and take interesting outdoor photos. Then they edited things on the computer like faded edging and such. Finally, they chose frames & gave several as Christmas gifts.
Just a couple of ideas,
Julie

Haven't thought of the idea of asking someone, I actually know of a couple of people I might could sweet talk into doing that for us. She has edited quite a few pictures on the computer and does a wonderful job at it. All of these ideas are what I was looking for. Now to choose which book to go with.... Thanks again for everyone's suggestions!
