Our oldest cat, around 12, started peeing frequently, in the house and right in front of us. This started yesterday. Monday we'll be ripping in to the vet. I'm hoping just a little UTI, otherwise he seems in great health. Any ideas?
My youngest dd is furious with me because I said he had to stay outside or in the garage. She thinks he has the right to pee pee where he pleases.

Yep, a UTI. Eh, ignore the young chit. Its better to not encourage a bad peeing habit and I hate cat pee all over. Has your boy had a UTI before?

Could just be a UTI, that would be best. Given that he is 12 have his kidneys checked and screen for diabetes, all too common in middle-aged to older cats!

Felix had to spend the night at the vet's last night, he wouldn't give them a urine sample. Of course not, he had used it all up inside my house, he didn't have any to spare. It was a UTI, everything else was fine. He threatened me loudly during the 20 mile drive home, not idle threats either, the sucker weighs 18 lbs, I take him seriously.
He's presently stretched out on the math table, supervising his favorite child, and occasionally flicking his tail angrily in my direction. Probably trying to store up a bit of urine for one last fling. So aside from the pills we have to give him daily (ha ha) all the excitement is over.

Oh my, we know this all too well around here with our three cats! It's too funny the way you worded that!
I'm glad to hear your kitty is on the mend.

If he had any crystals in his urine (check with your vet) you want to make sure he is on a diet that has urinary acidifiers in it to prevent build-up of crystals and lead to blockage of his urinary tract. So make sure he was crystal free on the urinalysis!

This is what always happened to our cats...
