I've been stressing out all week about hosting Easter. Will I have enough food? Will everyone like it? What can I do to keep young guests from breaking all of my kids's toys? Then I was worried because we were going to have anywhere from 12-20 people. We planned for 12 so I was scrambling to find seating for everyone.

Well, DH woke up with the flu today (fever, cough, aches, chills, etc.) so I guess we're not hosting Easter here afterall. My mil said not to worry about it (bless her!) and that she would have dinner over at her house. She said that the kids and I could come over. Well this evening I'm starting to ache all over and have a bad sore throat. I doubt we'll be able to go tomorrow either.

I feel bad because mil was going to make the turkey but I was handling everything else (side dishes, appetizers, dessert and drinks). She says she'll just pick up a few things at the store tomorrow morning.

I guess we'll be spending Easter in our pjs. At least it should be a nice, relaxing day. What am I going to do with all of those sweet potatoes! I'm the only one in the family who likes them. My oldest dd also filled a bunch of plastic eggs with candy and little toys for our guests to have an egg hunt. I think we'll be eating Easter candy for weeks now :001_smile:

Oh, I'm so sorry that the flu has hit. But I think that is something that most people really do understand! Your MIL will pull it off - it probably won't have the egg hunt and those touches that take awhile to plan and pull off, but it will bring everyone together and will be fine. I know that it is a bummer not to be going too but there's nothing for it but to put on some videos, get out blankets, hot tea and your tissue box and make the best of it!

I am so sorry! At least you can rest knowing that you MIL has it under control. We have all been sick here. The kids are feeling better, but i dont know if they are going to be up to church tomorrow.

I hope that you all enjoy a day of rest and get on with the healing. The flu seems to have been pretty bad this year.

I'm sorry you and dh are sick. Make a pot of herb tea, stay in your jammies, and let your bodies heal. And, think spring :001_smile:

We are having a weird Easter here too...the flu came to our house a week ago and we've all had it. Dh and dm have it still, so they will miss going to our older son's for the big dinner and fun stuff. Dd and I will go there and to church by ourselves.

A long time ago we missed a holiday due to sickness and we just said, "Oh well, there's always next year!" We shrugged our shoulders and made the best of it by watching movies and laying around in our pj's. I always remember that for some reason. Anyway, I hope you all have your own quiet little party too, relax and find some simple fun in being together.:lurk5:

Blessings,
