DD got a call today that she is accepted to one of the three art schools she applied to, and her portfolio earned her a scholarship that amounts to about 1/4 of yearly tuition. We will be scheduling a tour and a talk with the financial aid office to see a) what else is available for scholarship $$, b) if she can take any classes at the CC over summers or take a year there before art school to save $$. Still waiting to hear on 2 other art schools and 1 state school.

Congratulations!
Would it be tacky to ask which school?

Laguna College of Art & Design is the school that she heard from this week. Others on the list include Otis College of ARt & Design and Pacific Northwest College of Art, plus CSU Fullerton (in-town state school). She was "accepted based on portfolio" to Chicago's SAIC, but didn't apply as she felt it was too far from home. She has one college event she wants to go to tomorrow for a school called Columbia, also in IL, which impressed her at the college fair we attended.

Yes, it just makes me give a big sigh of relief...even if we can't afford it, it's good to see her be wanted!

Nice! Good luck to her. I hope she gets many more acceptances and gets to choose. :)
