I've been pondering replies to the Bible curriculum thread below, and really like the sample pages of the Christian Studies Program (http://www.memoriapress.com/descriptions/ChristianStudies.html)on the Memoria Press site recommended by Plaid Dad and pixelroper.

This year I used VP's Genesis to Joshua with my dc, 8 and 5.

I like it because it's free of commentary about the Biblical text so far, allowing the Scripture to speak for itself.

I like the Bible cards, and my dc have enjoyed the Victor Journey Through the Bible commentary and other resources recommended by VP.

I really don't like the memory song, although my dc seem to tolerate it well enough. I haven't emphasised the memorization of dates for Biblical events with them this year; it's more important to me for them to have a sense of the narrative flow of Biblical history than to memorize specific dates at this point (dh has another set of dates he would prefer they commit to memory, which is a factor as well).

The questions in VP are very factual, somewhat dry IMO, and frequently too easy for my dc; I feel they are challenged as we read the Word, but our curriculum isn't adding a lot this year, other than a structure for review and what is provided as we use the cards.

I like the idea of covering the Bible chronologically over a period of several years with them.

I've looked at the Explorer's Bible Study, and like it very much at the Discovery (http://www.explorerbiblestudy.org/store.php?act=view_series&series_id=1084553003) Level. Ds 8 struggles with handwriting, and could not do this on his own; we could do it orally, but I wonder if that would be tedious for him?

I like the samples on the Memoria Press site. How do you think it would work to combine their Christian Studies Program with the VP cards for the next two years, then set ds loose with Explorer's for a few years after that?

Thinking online here - would welcome suggestions.

although I'm not familiar with all the Veritas material- someone gave me the cards so I've been using them w/Christian Studies, I've found the Memoria Press program to be very flexible. I'd say your plan is good:)
