MIL will give dds a big eater basket tomorrow when we go to her house for lunch. Do you think I should do one for them as well. I remember waking up and having a beautiful basket and eating candy before church as a child. But all that candy and $$ spent on candy seems like overkill. WDYT?

I do have friends who have not had funds for Christmas presents for a couple years. The gift bonanza from grandparents and relatives is more than enough. Their kids seem to think their Christmases are great.
I also do not like the candy overkill at Easter. This year I am giving the kids bubbles, push pins (dd has a bulletin board), two spiritual books, a kite, and a dark chocolate bar. I give the chocolate because I feel guilty if I don't, and I give the books every year so that the focus can remain spiritual. The other stuff is minimal and just for fun.

Another idea would be to give your child a note telling what you appreciate about them and how much you love them.

We always fill them with other goodies, art supplies, spring items, fun stuff...
My mother always makes these amazing ones, so I try for small and special.
