and has read every book we can think of at the library. :-) He gets so discouraged because he LOVES to read! He loves books about the Civil War, any time in history, actually, adventures, mysteries, etc. He is an advanced reader if that helps with your suggestions.

Thanks so much!

Molly

Given his interest in history, he might like Time and Again (http://www.amazon.com/Time-Again-Jack-Finney/dp/0684801051) by Jack Finney. It's a time travel novel for adults that deals with 1880s New York.

The Killer Angels by Michael Sharra is the best civil war novel ever, IMHO. It' s wonderful. If he hasn't read it, I bet he'd really like it.

they also love mysteries/adventure stories. My 12 year old (advanced reader also) enjoyed The Mysterious Benedict Society (Stewart) and An Acceptable Time (L'Engle). Stewart has written other books that we haven't gotten to yet. Oh, and The Thief Lord by Funke also got good reviews here :001_smile:. -Jen
