exactly "how" the eggs fight each other? It sounded like there were several ways to play, and I'm not coming up with anything by Googling.

Thanks!

Since I started this and it is huge at our house.
Step 1 - Hard cook the eggs if not what a mess
Step 2 - coloring them is nice but not required
Step 3 - select your eggs we take turns until they are all selected, or you can do finders keepers from your egg hunt
Step 4 - two people duel person 1 holds egg steady and the other hold their egg above person ones and taps (or hits) Person 1's egg, one of the eggs should crack We do tip to tip first.
Step 5 Now switch to the butts and Person 2 holds egg steady while person one taps it with their egg from above - one should crack.
If one egg has not cracked at all that egg is declared the winner
If one end of each egg has cracked go back to step 4 and then after dueling one egg should have one uncracked end and that egg is the winner.
***note person holding egg steady is not allowed in any way to obscure the ability of hitter to hit their egg. Man my brother used to be a rat fink at playing fair. Amazing how these traditions return us to our childhoods. I haven't said rat fink in a long time.

I have a 21 and 18 yo sons. I could see hard boiled egg all over everything and no egg being a winner. It sounds like fun.

If you hit them too hard you run the risk of breaking both eggs, which would be very bad indeed. You need to hit just hard enough to break one egg. Now if we had a smilie for splatted egg that would be funny.

Story from the past ---
My Dad, who was 10yo when the depression hit, played this game but the states were higher. On Easter the kids would head out to the street with their eggs. The kid whose egg was not cracked WON the cracked eggs. So, if you had a strong egg you could head home with many more eggs, which during the depression would be a bonus.
