Dh, myself and 12yos went to see Barack Obama this afternoon. 2 days ago, I was just thrilled to have gotten coveted tickets for the event. Dh got in line about 1.5 hrs before the doors were opened. When we got inside the building, they had us sit directly behind where he spoke (maybe 20ft. away), on the bleachers under the Obama banner. We were in the front row and got to shake hands with Sen. Obama before and after the event. People kept asking us if we had special tickets. We didn't; they just asked if we wanted to sit there.

I'm sooo excited about this. So, if you happen to see any news footage of Sen. Obama in Salem, OR, you just might see us. (Click on my website, if you want to know what I look like.)

Anyway, I just had to vent in a good way!! I hope everyone else is having such a great day!

Did anyone faint when he spoke?

Edited to add: That is very cool that you got to hear and shake his hand! I am just joking because I think it funny/strange that people (not you, of course) get so worked up when he speaks.

Nope, nobody fainted! My 12yo didn't like it at all. I just kept reminding him that he will really appreciate someday, esp. if Sen. Obama is elected President.

The newspaper got great shots of both dh and I during the speech. I will post it if I can figure out how. Right now, I'm off to an event for my own campaign. :patriot:

Too cool! You're right about the 12 yo - someday, he'll appreciate it.

Of course, my dad loves to remind me that I saw President Nixon when I was 3 or something. My ponytails are in a picture with Nixon somewhere on a front page of an Ohio paper - or something like that. Dad "swears" he looked right at me.

This is the same man who kept me awake to see the Apollo 11 landing - I was 4 weeks old!!!! But he said, "Hey! Thanks to me, you can say you saw the first man land on the moon!"
