Do you stick them on a timeline? Laminate them and play games?

I'm wracking my brain but I can't figure it out. Are your kids studying Nazis? What is WW2?

I have been just sticking them on the wall but no one looks at them. That would be great if someone more creative than myself could come up with a game.

Really? No one does anything great with them?

Office stores carry a spiral bound set of index cards. I buy this and as the children reach the end of a chapter, they cut out their review card and paste it on the first page of the spiral bound index card set. At the end of the next chapter, they paste on the 2nd card, etc. They usually color in the review cards before pasting them into the card pack. There are 50 index cards bound together, so it works great for the 42 chapters of SOTW.
No more loosing those little review cards. I write SOTW I (or whatever level we are working on) and put the kid's name on the outside of their card pack. Amazingly, over the past 3 years, we have kept up with all of them.
Every now and then I have them pull out their "SOTW Review Book", and they take turns reading the review. Sometimes one of the kiddos will add some extra thoughts that they recall about a particular chapter. I throw a chocolate over their way!
This is how we use the review cards. Hope it helps,
Joyfully,
Mary

I actually paste them on the front of the lapbooks that the boys and I make every four chapters.

Wow! :iagree: That was a great idea Mary.:hurray: We usually just put them in an idex card file. I think we'll try Mary's spiral bound set of index cards idea.

Wow, a whole lapbook for every four chapters? Could you tell me a bit more?

I do very basic ones considering my oldest is pretty young and I'm a really big history nut so I have a lot of fun putting them together. If may camera was working I would take a couple of pictures and throw them up on my blog. (But a new camera is on my wish list right now)
But here's what I basically do...
I pull out any 'vocabulary' words usually the ones SWB puts in italics and make a memory game out of them.
We have a section call Famous People Files, where I'll put the names of the famous people we talked about. I like him to put one or two things he can remember about them. I also put a few maps in there for him to look at. My son's a geography nut. Then I just browse through the chapter and look at the other stuff that I think might be important. Like for the first four chapters we copied the page of the AG where there were letters in cuniform and hieroglyphics and he spelled his name out in them. We also did a small book let where he named some of the Egyptian gods and drew small little pictures of them. And in the second set we did a mini-book about the pyramids. One of the cuter mini-books we made was a how to guide on how to make a mummy. Things like that.
