We always make these Hot Cross Buns (http://socksandbooks.blogspot.com/) for Good Friday.
What do you do on Good Friday?

We would normally attend a Good Friday service where we would end by stripping the altar and either leave it bare or draped in black; we'd leave the church in silence. But due to the snowstorm, church has been canceled; the roads are covered with inch-thick ice.
So today we will light the Lenten candle. After 3:00, we will keep the TV off and any other diversion (like computer games) turned off, and we will spend the day quietly.
I will probably curl up with a book.
Time for contemplation.

Thanks, Jean--I always enjoy your blog...we're off to the Stations of the Cross at noon...I'm administering the Terra Nova to my son today--torture. He is overwhelmed by inanity...

What a beautiful entry.
It is very quiet here in Denmark. All the shops shut on Thursday and everyone is off work. The fresh white snow of Tuesday has been washed away and the ground is full of grey puddles. Dh saw the flags at half mast and wondered who had died...

Here in Germany it's also very quiet. Everyone is at home with family and friends and were getting wet snow, sleet and rain. Tomorrow is our little guys 10th Birthday..so weve had cake today and are heading to the only Chili's in Europe tomorrow to celebrate with his sisters.

Do read MFS' entry at Mental Multivitamin (http://mentalmultivitamin.blogspot.com/2008/03/from-archives-happy-good-friday.html).
She posts some version of her story each year, and it never fails to bring tears to my eyes.

Here in Antigua, this is a huge holiday for everyone. I've posted some pictures on my blog about some things we experience here. Friday is a quiet day for us because we are up all night on Thursday because everything starts at 3 am. We will color eggs later, make resurrection cookies tomorrow, and later this evening, dh will read the crucifixion passages from the Bible to us.

I just posted a meditation (really, just some thoughts) on Jesus' arrest on my blog. I may post more tomorrow.
We have a 3 hour service, with 4 sermons. First is Morning Prayer, then I think Good Friday liturgy, then stations, then? Can't really remember the order. I will go to some part of it.
This morning I went to the last part of our Maundy Thurs. vigil. It was very nice to take an hour to pray. As I say on my blog, I read Ps 88. When I got home, I told dh about my time, and he asked if I had pre-read his sermon--he will be talking about Ps 88! lol
The rest of the day will be quiet.

I posted a hymn I love that I think sums up the message of Good Friday very well: When I Survey the Wondrous Cross (http://onemomsfunjourney.blogspot.com)by Isaac Watts.
