:D Talk about the primary vs. secondary colors, mixing colors, if you are Christian you could talk about the egg as a symbol of new life, etc. Have fun...we're doing ours later today as well.

Oh yes that is what we are doing today. We are also going to make Hot Cross Buns and there is a history/symbolism about them and they were typically served on Good Friday. So art, cooking, history and Bible. :)

I did run down and pull out of my inventory Usborne's Eggs and Chicks book and Stories of Jesus. We read all of Eggs and Chicks and The Easter Story. So, we did science, history and art!

I have to confess that we did do MUS and FLL earlier. I think we hit all major subjects and the kids think we didn't have school today. :D

Of course they do. You can study all the different types, Ukrainian especially.

Cooking several batches of brownies for the family reunion on Saturday (that's Math...doubling or tripling recipes).

Dyeing eggs is Science, (why you put vinegar in the dye water, how boiling an egg cooks the inside but doesn't change the outside...just go watch Alton Brown, he'll explain it to you.) and Art (mixing colors, etc.)

Talking about what Easter means to your family while you're cooking is Religion and History.

Making a dairy-free carrot cake for dh is Science (kitchen chemistry), and Home Economics (substitutions in recipes for food allergies).

Going outside to look for blooming dogwoods (my Mom says they alwasy bloom right before Easter. I'm not sure about that, but ours our blooming this year.) is Nature Study, for all you CMers.

Listen to some classical music (I'm thinking Handel's Messiah) while you're cooking, dyeing eggs, and cleaning up.

or

You could just maintain that every public school (and a lot of workplaces) in the country are off today for Good Friday, therefore you are too.

Now, send them kids outside to enjoy this gorgeous day, (at least it is here) and you enjoy the SILENCE!
