View Full Version : Word 2007 Ultimate for $60....
on the Microsoft website. You just have to prove you are a teacher or student by using an .edu e-mail, like all students have at college. My daughter got this, and it is good for 3 uses, she was told. The deal is called The UltimateSteal.

Did she see the 3 uses thing in official writing? I've got the same version, bought it with my student email. Double check what the license agreement states, mine clearly stated it was for the student only, just one license. We were under the impression, from the terms in the license, that the student couldn't even put it on 2 computers, even if both were for the same student's use. I have both a laptop and a desk top that are just mine. I only put it on my laptop. DS bought his own copy, using his student email. If you can get it to load on more than one computer, please let us all know.
My daughter got her info from friends on campus, so not official in any way. I had bought a Student/Teacher version a couple years ago, that was good for three downloads, so did not think again....except that it didn't make sense for students to have both laptop and desktop to justify more than one use. We don't want the extra items on any computer, already had the basic Student/Teacher version, so have not tried to download it a second time. I did order a backup disc, since I'm somewhat leary of downloads (I still have that fear of hitting the wrong button and everything being GONE!) I assume that it is usable on several computers, if you don't register it for updates....but I also think that is an illegal use of the software. I see authentication codes published online for desperate students....and many seem to use those codes to successfully unlock the try-out version that comes preloaded in most laptops and desktops these days....kids use those versions a certain number of days or accesses, then are locked out of all their work, unless they make the purchase to get authentication code. A bit tricky of MS, but the warnings are right there, every time a kid logs into the intro version, so they were "be-awared" multiple times.
This is all I know, and I'm sure its just a drop to other's knowledge pitcher full. I'm just trying to keep up.
SO, anybody thinking to use that download for multiple computers, should carefully read the fineprint as Cathie notes. I was just searching for an inexpensive copy of the basic Student/Teacher version and got this for a really, really great price. Having the extra software is cool, if she ever uses it.
