Hi,
As you know, ClickSchooling is on SPRING BREAK from March 19th-30th.
There will be no regular ClickSchooling messages during this time.
Regular messages will resume on Monday, March 31st.
Nevertheless, I am interrupting Spring Break with this message. It is
important to reach as many California Homeschoolers as possible
because your help is needed to protect homeschooling in California.
Some of you may be aware of the 2nd Appellate Court decision on
February 28th that threatens our right to homeschool in California.
All of the state homeschool organizations including California
Homeschool Network (http://www.CaliforniaHomeschool.net), Christian
Home Educators Association, (http://www.cheaofca.org), and HomeSchool
Association of California (http://www.hsc.org) are working together
to get this opinion depublished. They all encourage the following
action...
A resolution has been introduced to the California Assembly that
calls upon the California Supreme Court to undo the damage of the 2nd
Appellate Court decision. It does not call for a change in
legislation - because California homeschoolers are concerned that
legislation would restrict our freedom to homeschool. We do,
however, want to make our voices known by asking our Assembly members
to support this resolution.
The homeschool associations ask that Californians make phone calls to
their Assembly members asking them to support the Assembly Resolution
known as ACR 115.
If you know what Assembly District you are in, you can find your
Assembly Member's contact info here:
http://www.assembly.ca.gov/acs/acsframeset7text.htm
If you don't know what Assembly District you are in, then click on
this url first - to find out:
http://192.234.213.69/amapsearch/framepage.asp
When you call your Assembly Member, ask to speak to the "education
policy person."
Explain that you live in their district and that you are a homeschool
parent.
Tell them that you are calling to request they support ACR 115 that
supports a parent's right to homeschool as it is allowed under the
current laws WITHOUT any additional legislation or regulation.
Very often, a staff member will simply take your contact info and
message and thank you for calling.
The HomeSchool Association of California would like to track the
calls to make sure that every Assembly member has been called at
least once. They request that you email Kathy Smith
<kathy@longviewacademy.org> to report any phone calls you make to
Assembly Members.
Thank you very much for your cooperation in this effort to preserve
homeschooling as it is currently allowed under the law in California.
