The Oprah Store is a specialty store full of merchandise that represents the style and taste Oprah celebrates and shares on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and in the pages of O, The Oprah Magazine and O At Home Magazine.
Do I smell a little ego-centrism here? "O(!), be like me! You know you want to."
I guess some people never think they have enough money. :001_rolleyes:

UGH, I wish Oprah would get over herself already. Now she's gone out and bought The Discovery Health channel and is turning it into the "O" network. Come on, do we really need an "O" network

I haven't watched Oprah since 1999...and that's only b/c a friend taped an episode on post-partum depression she thought I should see. LOL
She's done great things, but enough is enough.

Isn't it time for Oprah to retire already? I think she's a little too into herself, just a smidge.;)

:willy_nilly: I can't bear Oprah! Why does she have to have her name attached to everything that she does? She is richer than God and has to let everyone know.

I'm on Oprah overload just reading this thread. I haven't watched her show in at least a decade, but I'm constantly being bombarded with, "Didja see Oprah today?! Oh, you wouldn't believe..."
Yeah, I probably would believe it.
Is there a polite way to say, "Please stop talking to me!" ?
I might have to resort to, "Get a lif, you looser."

I don't want to dislike Oprah as much as I do ... really I don't. She does a lot of good things. I actually have enjoyed a lot of her book recommendations. But, I rarely watch the show. Time and kids and having a semi-life and all that .. . But when she started the "Big Give" show and I saw the intro and she looked like Sherry Palmer (from 24) I was done.
I have thought about her. Can you imagine being in your 50's with no kids, no husband and more money than God (as someone put it)? Really - can you imagine? I can't, much as I'd like to. At the end of the day, you're alone - not in the way a lot of us crave alone - but really and truly alone. One part of me tips my hat to Oprah - she's done things no one has done EVER. Another part of me feels kind of sad for all the things she's missed to become who she is. Does that make any sense?

Well.....I have recently just started telling people things like, "Uh huh, well *I* really just don't care what x says about y issue. Seriously, I don't want to talk about it, it's not worth my time or energy." :D
I don't know if that means I'm moving "up" or "down", LOL, but I really don't care, cause I REALLY don't want to talk about/or listen to some things, :D

Not everyone wants to get married and/or have children. We shouldn't judge someone by our own desires. I've known a few people in my life who didn't marry or have kids and they were quite happy with their lives. I've known many people who were miserable being married and even people who resented having children because the children took up too much time in their lives. Being lonely is not from being unmarried or not having kids. It's from something going on inside a person. Just MHO.

What did it for me was one day watching and she said
" Nothing irritates me more than going into someone's house and seeing miss-matched towels."
I don't know anyone who has all matching towels in their home. She doesn't live in the real world anymore. It seems that sometimes when people have money for a long period of time they lose touch with us regular folk. She does do wonderful things for people and she doesn't have to but jeez....

I protest all things Oprah related! When I was ill last month with a sinus infection and my doctor's office recommended the netti-pot b/c it 'was on Oprah', I couldn't believe it. I refused to buy it and told the nurse that I would not have my health care dictated to me by 'O'.
And now we have a store to buy all of her favorite things...
Puh-lease!

My towels would all match if I weren't married, had no kids, was rich, and had servants. Heck, I'd hire a matchmaker to make sure of it.

No, Amy, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. There are many people who realize they don't want kids, or wouldn't make a good parent. I think she has/had a steady companion, there's no real "need" for her to marry, I guess. I don't think she'll end up alone, I'd bet anything she has a huge amount of people and family who care for her immensely. She seems very content with her life. I don't understand the part about her really, truly being alone at the end of the day. Are you privy to info about her that we're not?

I am NOT a fan of Oprah. I have seen her show a few times. So. Not. A. Fan.
But, there are many, many women who are. They loooooove Oprah. They love all things Oprah. They bombard Oprah with questions about where she got this and where she got that. They would proudly wear Oprah.
So to me, it makes perfect sense that there would be an Oprah store come out of such love and devotion from fans. I'm not surprised or disgusted.

Before that I haven't watched her in years. I mean I struggle with my weight but every few years when I watch an episode she is like a completely different size.
A funny story I must tell. A couple of hs friends in our neighborhood would come over every afternoon around 4. They told my dc's that their Mom liked Oprah and wanted quiet. Well, since my dc's didn't know who that was, they told me their Mom really liked Opera.
For the longest time, I was so impressed that she took her musical tastes so seriously. One day, while talking, I realized it was Oprah, not Opera. LOL. We still have a good laugh about this!
