What do you think of this for 2nd grade? What did you like/dislike?

Thanks

The Cores spread a range of ages, so don't worry about using Core 1 for a 2nd grader. My oldest was in early 4th grade when we finished it.

Otherwise, I'd recommend that you look at their own list of "whys" and "why nots" and see if they match your goals. http://www.sonlight.com/articles.html We used Sonlight, then left, and then came back. Now I can't imagine using anything else.

I liked that you pick it up and teach. There is very little prep. It does require that you read alot, but we like that. My children still re-read lots of the books.

That would work fine!

My boys will be 8 and 6 at the start of the school year. We used Core C this year and my oldest definitely got more out of it then his younger brother, so I'm glad I didn't go any higher this year.

Hi...I spoke to sonlight this week and they recommended core 1+2 for me with my 2 girls...My dd will be turning 6 right after school starts going into 1st and my other DD is 7 going into 3rd grade. While my 12 yo will do 6alt.

I was worried about the way it all would line up...but my problem was LA. If I do Core 1 with 3-5 grade readers...then in Core 2 I would run out of readers...so that is why she recommended core 1+2 for us...Then it would be in the middle and my dd could still do la 1st grade.

But if you dont have to worry about LA then you could do core 1 with no issues. My dd read all the readers this year for 1, 2 and 3 readers. Oh well... She loved them.
