I'm getting ready to buy OPGTR for dd. I'll probably just use it to give me an idea of what to teach next and not as an actual reading text. Should I get a paperback copy or splurge on spiral bound? Thanks!

I have never regretted paying the little bit more for spiral bound PHP books! I love being able to leave the book open to the next bit we're going to cover!
With OPGTR it would have been especially nice to have spiral bound! I kept wanting to bend the unused half over while we were reading, to make it less unwieldy for little hands, and easier for us to snuggle up and both be able to see what the reader was reading.

I bought mine used at a good price, but it is so cumbersome to use while snuggling on the sofa. My ds6 found it rather "boring" anyway (thankfully?) so we gave it up. BUT, I'm planning to use it with my ds5 and dd2 soon so I'm either A: going to sell this one and buy the spiral or B: have the binding cut off and spiral bound at Staples or some other office store (depending on the cost). Go spiral. You won't regret the extra couple bucks.

Go with the spiral one. I have the paperback and I do think it would be easier to use the spiral one.

I agree with everyone else -- get the spiral bound book. We have the paperback and it is kind of awkward to use. I wish I had spent the extra money and bought the spiral, but I may do what Sue G in PA mentioned and take it into an office supply store and have them do it.

I just ordered the spiral one yesterday at Rainbow resources. The price difference there wasn't very big. I checked the paperback out at the library, it is awkward to keep open while using it.
