View Full Version : Has anyone successfully *passed* the AP audit as a homeschooler?

I've e-mailed the College Board twice about the steps necessary to complete an audit for an AP class I'd like to teach next year to a group of homeschoolers. I've not heard back. Has anyone gone through the process? Have you looked into the process? FWIW, I'm looking into teaching AP U.S. Government.

Thanks so much,
Lisa

I never looked into it, although I've lead my dds through 5 AP subjects thus far. The audit process was more paperwork than I wanted to do and there appeared to be only one benefit:

The ability to append "AP" to the front of the course title on my dds' high school transcripts.

I decided that that one benefit wasn't worth the hassle/time/paperwork.

Please do let us know how the audit goes, if you decide to pursue it.

Well, I did finally hear back from College Board and was able to create a homeschool account. New sample syllabi and evaluation guidelines will be out on Mar. 25, so that should give me a better indication of all that's involved. Anyone else gone through this already? :)

Thanks,
Lisa

Lisa,

I think you can go to AP's message board to find out. The last time I was there, many of the public school teachers and private school teachers were complaining that they still had not heard if they had passed the audit. It would be interesting to know if anyone has passed the audit.

I meant to say it would be interesting to know if any homeschooler had passed the audit.

Sorry for the confusion,

and get their input.

My dd's AP teacher (many years teaching AP english classes) is still waiting to hear back...last year, it boiled down to the fact that they simply did not have a mechanism in place to audit independent teachers, unless they were part of an institution like PA homeschoolers.
