I think my 8 yr. old ds has pragmatic language issues.
He often speaks to others as though they're dense or ridiculous
or speaks in a very defensive/aggressive manner.
It's very embarrassing. (He also has SPD).
Is there any unit study or program I can use at home to help him
with this. I can't do on-line stuff cause my connection is so slow.
I'd like to do a social language group, but haven't heard of one in
our area. Would it be beneficial to work with a counselor on this?
Thank you for taking the time to answer.
Liberty.

If you go to www.linguisystems.com, this company has books and games that teach pragmatics. A friend of mine had the game FriendZee (not sure of the spelling), and really liked it because it taught the necessary skills, but it was a "game" so her child would actually "work" on it without complaining.

Great! This is a wonderful site. I appreciate
you steering me in this direction.
I also found out that the rehab place I requested
a referral to also has help in pragmatic language skills. Hurray!
