That will tell you where to place her. I would guess she should go to TT 6 if you want to do BJU 6th next year, but that is just a guess.

TT 5 will be basic 4th grade math. We use TT 6 & 7 and they are 5th & 6th grade math programs.

I am curious why TT calls it 5, but it is 4th grade? I am considering switching to this or MUS. Is TT just not up to par with the grade level they are calling it or is the level not linked to grade level?

Great questions. I don't know why they call it "6" when it is obviously basic 5th grade math for the average student. Type "Teaching Textbooks" and/or "TT" in the search box up top and you'll get quite a few threads from the last month or so.

I don't know anything about Calvert math, but my son has done both BJU 4th grade and currently BJU 5th grade math with HomeSat and most of the 5th grade book has been review of the 4th. You could go online to BJUP.com and look in the math text books, see how they compare to what she has learned in Calvert.

Personally this is what I would do...

I would just start her with the BJU 6th grade and not worry about doing a whole 5th grade math program in-between. The HomeSat teachers are very thorough and will teach each concept. When you begin the 6th grade with HomeSat, buy the Reviews book just in case your dd gets stuck and needs a little extra help at some point.

If your just wanting to fill in between this year and next...how about getting some inexpensive math workbooks for 5th grade? I have seen DK workbooks at Costco that look decent, or how about some of the Key To series of books? The set on fractions perhaps, or percents. Another thing you could do is buy a used BJU 5 text and have her work through anything she doesn't already know as prep for next year. TT just seems awfully expensive and not needed in my opinion. But that's just me.
