I just discovered these: http://www.tip.duke.edu/independent_learning/subjects.html
They are non-credit, but pretty cheap ($55-75 or so) and some of them look really interesting (e.g. Greek Mythology, Science Outdoors, King Arthur, etc). They are designed for gifted kids (generally grades 4-7 or 7-12) and apparently you don't need to be part of the TIP program to use them.
I was wondering if anyone here has tried them?

The King Arthur one looks pretty good -- I don't know that I'd end up using it exactly as written (I hardly ever do!), but it's a great start. I just got the Switched On Sound box about a week ago, and it really looks fabulous -- and much cheaper than most! :)
I've not actually USED any of them, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but just from looking, I'd say they're worth the money.

I'm interested in hearing about the energy one.
look really great! Even with the books added onto the cost of the course, I am very interested in these. Did anyone else explore to the intro of Learning Contracts? I like becoming a mentor rather than parent/mom/teacher, as my son evolves into a more self-motivated, self-directed learner.....and printable organizers always appeal to me, even if I may redesign them for my use. Has anyone used there? May I take this over to the other forums to find users? I'll search first, I reckon, but I really like these, want info now, hope it is out there.
Anybody?
