Man, this is going to date me. About a thousand years ago (OK, probably 2 or 3), I read a post about a timeline that was made kind of accordian style. You could pull it out of it's home (a notebook?) when you wanted to, and then fold it back up and put it away when you were done.

So now we've finally reached the point in our studies that I'm ready to tackle a timeline. Problem is, I have no idea how this contraption can be made.

Does anyone know what I am talking about??

Thanks!

I'm guessing you need a long piece of paper 11" in height, figure out how long it needs to be to cover the period of time for your book, pick a number for its length divisible by 8.5", folding it every 8.5" will give you an accordian 8.5"X11"- This can be slid into a standard sized envelope or glue stiff board at the beginning and end. You could pick any size you want really, just fold it up for storage. Gluing a cover and back on would allow you to flip through it like a book, you would have both sides to work on. Sounds like a great idea...

There's another site somewhere that explains how to make your own.

I made one out of manila folders. I remember asking this question and someone on the board here recommended the m. folders. Cut the tabs off and tape however many folders you want together. It's very sturdy.
Mine hangs on the wall, but I could take it down and store it in a notebook. I have 11 folders taped together and it goes from about 5000 B.C. to today.

HTH.

I think the original post did talk about using manila folders, which would make it quite sturdy. Also, I like the idea about even stiffer cardboard for the front and back. I think I have a plan now.

Thanks!
