A friend of mine gave me some stuff for an "election" lapbook. I have never made these, but it looks cool. Can someone explain how to do the "folder" part? I have all the stuff that you cut up and assemble inside, just can't figure out how they have all those inside sections and how it opens in the center at the front????

I don't want to have to buy something that explains it. Money is SOOOO tight here right now!

Thanks!

I have not done one yet, but I ran across this the other day. Maybe there is something on there that could help. Membership is free.

I'll take a stab at this. Open the file folder so it is laying flat on the table. Take one side and fold it so that the edge meets the middle crease. Do the same with the other edge. It looks like a shutter. You arrange the booklets in whatever space they will fit in. It is like a puzzle so it may take a few tries to make everything fit. If you have alot of minit books. you may need an extension.

Here is a site that may get you off to a good start: labook lessons (http://lapbooklessons.ning.com/)

Oops, Joanna and I posted at the same time with the same link.

Here is an explanation: Folding a file folder (http://www.homeschoolhelperonline.com/lapbooks/folding_lapbooks.htm)

But remember, you aren't limited to using a file folder. You can use card stock that is 3 holed punched and place it in a notebook or one of those 3 pronged folders. I use this a lot for my older children.

Here is another way to do it:
