Hi, the state of Colorado curriculum calls for earth science in 9th grade. Can anyone recommend a good earth science text?
THanks.

We'll we are doing Earth Science in 9th grade this year using the Teaching Co's How The Earth Works. It is a wonderful lecture series. It is secular in approach.

I'll be using an earlier edition of this book for my ds next year. http://www.amazon.com/Earth-Science-12th-w-DVD/dp/0136020070/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1260468375&sr=8-3
I was able to find it very cheaply. I did not look into teacher's edition, but the textbook website has some good student resources.

We did BJU Earth and Space Science in high school. It is Christian and young earth in case you wanted to know that. It is their 8th grade text, but acceptable for high school. I compared it to a high school earth science text and it compared well. We did it without the dvds, but if you can afford them, that teacher is a good one.

We are using Apologia's Physical Science for 9th. It will count as "earth science" for our state.

It's a little dry, but it contains quizzes, tests, and a final exam. My 9th grader is using it.

How about Switched on Schoolhouse Earth Science (http://www.aophomeschooling.com/product/09soses/) for 8th-12th grade? I haven't used it, but the description sounds decent.
We do a lot of science, so I'm considering it as a secondary course for next year.
