my dd(10). I'm sure we're dealing with giftedness, along with possible dyscalculia. Her behavior is the main reason for this decision, though. I don't really want to go into all the details, but we are looking for someone who can help us sort through all her various issues. Basically, we have a child who has the academic mind of an upper high school student (except in math), a body with hormones in puberty, and the emotional/behavioral level of a much younger child.
We live in East TN, only 2 miles from NC. Johnson City, TN, Bristol TN & VA, Knoxville TN are within a reasonable distance, as well as Asheville, Boone, Winston-Salem & Charlotte, NC.
Please PM me if you have any experience with evaluators in these areas.
Thank you.

Maybe you'll have better luck posting your question on the TAGFAM or Gifted Homeschoolers Forum (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CA-gt-hs/)yahoo group. You might also check at SENG (http://www.sengifted.org/) and Hoagies (http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/) for possible contact names.

Thanks, Lisa. I already looked at SENG & Hoagies, but didn't fine anyone in my area.
Is TAGFAM also a yahoo group? I have never heard of it or the gifted homeschoolers forum yahoo group.

Sorry, I didn't have the link earlier. Here it is: http://www.tagfam.org/ It's a listserve and the volume of emails is quite high, so I was only on it briefly.

I know it's quite a distance and expense, but we'll be going here next Fall to talk about my 4 y/o's behavior. http://www.gifteddevelopment.com/About_GDC/gdcexprienc.htm Also, check out Deborah Ruf ... she meets with parents via Skype for consultations. http://www.educationaloptions.com/index2.php
