level E and the Geometry what level of math was your child at? Did you got to pre- algebra or jump into algebra 1?

From level E you wouldn't do either. You'd benefit from at least one more year of basic math to do more with fractions, etc. People have gone happily into BJU5 or BJU6, depending on the age and comfort of their dc. After BJU6 you can go into an algebra sequence of your choice. Dr. Cotter recommends VideoText. RS Geometry still needs computation brought alongside. Last I heard Dr. Cotter was recommending Challenge Math by Zaccaro. I still don't see where that would sub for doing more thorough work with fractions, which I think is the main remaining issue before heading into pre-algebra. I own the RS G and like it, but I haven't figured out how we'll actually use it, when, etc. To run a whole math program like BJU6 alongside it might be a bit much, so I don't know. It might be something we just do over a couple summers, breaking it up, and leaving BJU for the main part of the year.

See, that is what I thought, but when I called the rep at RS she told me when ds was done with E and geometry to move him right into video text. I was confused because to me that looks more like a highschool program. Am I right? I have been considering after RS to have him move to MUS Epsilon or Zeta. Depending on how well he is doing on his fractions. I have to keep him with a hands on math or he just goes blank on me.
Also with the Geometry do you think it is a bit advanced? I have been looking through it and unless my son is really going to learn a lot in E, I am afraid it will be above his head.

Have you looked at the BJU math? It's very similar to RS in conceptual approach and will be very compatible with your RS manipulatives. It would be a very smooth transition.
What level are you doing right now? Just take it one step at a time and see where it leads. You might not even want to do the Geometry when you get there. As cool as it looks to me, it's not essential. I'm only considering it because my dd LIKES the drawing activities in RS. Some kids hate them and would squelch with a year of it. So just take it one step at a time. Finish D, finish E, and see where you're at. You'll know what to do when you get there. Heather in VA went from BJU6 to VideoText quite nicely, which is why I'm planning that.

Ds wants to do the Geometry really bad. So, I decided we will do it for 6th grade.
We will be starting Level D with in the next few weeka into next year and move to E when that is complete. By my scheduling we should have D and E done before the 6th grade. He will be in 5th next year, but is a little behind in math that is why I switched to the RS. He is doing the transition lessons right now and loves them. He has been doing like 3 daily. He has been asking to do math for a change. So I am taking advantage of it.
