I need help with math

My dd has been doing math a grade level ahead. This year has been hard; actually this and last year have been hard because Miquon ended and I've had a hard time finding something similar. She does NOT do well with traditional textbooks. She can't handle visual clutter on the page and a page of equations pushes her over the edge, even though she can do them successfully. We've done Making Math Meaningful, Rod and Staff, Miquon and some Singapore. The only math that was successful with her was Miquon and to this day, she laments over it's loss! I just had her do the placement test for Developmental math and I found several mistakes on the placement test itself, which makes me nervous about buying the program.

Suggestions? She'll be doing 6th grade math in the fall.

There are workbooks, teacher's manuals, extras and even books to read. They have a bit of the feel of Miquon and I noticed that they use the rods in some problems. It is free.:)

Have you considered Math U See?

The student book has NO drawings, no visual clutter at all.
The content is in the DVD, so she gets to watch TV. That's a big selling point here.

Another vote for MUS as a possibility due to the uncluttered page and the fact that the facing page is blank (for working problems in our house, at least at the later levels we've done). Because of her grade, I recommend you do their placement test first if you're interested. It's not graded and works on mastery, so don't be alarmed if she isn't where you think. When they do fractions they DO FRACTIONS--the whole kit and caboodle.

We do both Singapore and MUS, and you may wish to do the Singapore Challenging Word problems along with MUS.
