and an incubator, and although we have a few acres, we're not exactly on a farm  so it's not like I can keep them around in our yard. We can release them right into the neighborhood, though, because wild quail run through here all the time.

So, I was planning on ordering these from Home Science Tools. When would be the optimum time to order them, in order for them to hatch and eventually be released?

Your question made me curious so I googled "quail and hatching season". Two sites I went to said the main nesting season was May through July.

That sounds about right. We have quail here year round. We moved into this house in June of last year and had at least four quail families (mom, dad, and 8-13 babies) through about September. The families all still come around, but the babies are grown now. I can't imagine what our yard will look like if all the grown babies have babies this year and stick around! We feed them well, so our house attracts many birds. But we typically have at least 30 quail on our property at any given time. We have 1.25 acres, and it's certainly not a farm, so don't be surprised if they stick around! :o They seem to be very social birds.

and wasn't able to come up with too much. I think if I order the eggs sometime in April, then in May we can let them incubate and keep them around the yard for a while before releasing them.

Thanks for the info! I thought it would be a fun project for our youngest!

Did you read the reviews of the quail eggs on home science tools? People were having problems with them not ever hatching.

Is the review posted on the Home Science Tools website? I'd love to see it!

Thanks for letting me know!
