I host my pictures externally at photobucket. Upload to photobucket (or a place like it), copy the url, post a reply here, click on the yellow box above the message box you are typing in (it has what appears to be a mountain range in it) and then paste the url in the box that pops up.

There may be other ways to do it, but I uploaded my photo to a photo-hosting site (I use Photobucket), then copied the direct link they offer.
Next, I started a reply to the thread and clicked the photo link in the toolbar. (It is square and looks like a little picture of a mountain with the sun in the sky. It's the fifth icon from the right on the bottom row)
A window will open in which you will copy the direct link, then simply click submit.
