I know I'm being lazy and should be able to figure this out somehow, but does anyone know if Boorstin (Landmark) is scheduled in TOG for american history? I'm tossing around in my mind whether I want to do two tracks at once (me reading dd Boorstin using the SL3 IG and discussion questions while her doing the VP cards, one each week, with her usual pile of books, then adding on TOG activities from the activities cds) or whether I could get all that in one format with TOG. Thing is, TOG has such a fast pace, seems to me you could spend WEEKS on each of those single weeks she lists!!! But we tend to go with the flow and spend as much time as we need till we exhaust a topic, so I don't mind that.
So is Boorstin's Landmark History of the... scheduled in TOG? If it's not, then I'll just stick with my current plan and stop sweating it. Dd is a little history buff, so she'll gobble up as much as I throw at her. She said she didn't want to do school work this summer, then it came out that her idea of no schoolwork still means history and science, lol!

Not in the classic... I have not seen it anywhere..... I cant speak of the redesign... no book list yet... sorry!
Adding TOG into what you are already doing made me tired by the way. :D It sounds like you have a good thing going....

Elizabeth,
I'm switching over to TOG Yr 2. I haven't seen Boorstin in the schedule but I'm new to this...still looking through everything that has arrived. I just wanted to comment on the fast pace. I like the quick tour through the Middle Ages (couldn't stomach the idea of an entire year on it) and am planning to slow down and move at our own pace with Homeschool in the Woods (Explorers, Colonial Life and Revolution) where appropriate and add in other things I already own(VP cards w/ songs, Eggleston, oodles of historical fiction and biographies, you name it). My schoolroom looks like "The Exhaustive Library of American History." I knew I wanted TOG for dialectic and rhetoric so I decided to just take the plunge and do it lightly now, taking from it what I want and saving more for later. It may not go perfectly but at least I feel like I have a meaningful plan now and I'm excited.

Nope, I looked in year 4 and I know it isn't in year 3 (classic).

Well foo. :(
Oh well, at least that's decided. So Siloam, if I get the student activities cd's, I'll get the lists of activities for each week, right? That's what I really like from TOG and the price is great.
Well at least I don't have to fret myself thinking I ought to be doing TOG next year. Not that it's bad, just that I already have a scheme that will work for us and the way we like to do things. I just want those TOG activities and was willing to take the plunge all the way if it would pull everything together for me. Since it won't, I'll follow my current plan. Thanks everybody!!

Ummm, I don't think so. I don't know of an activities CD.
There is the Reproducible CD, which will list some of the project, but not necessarily in detail. Often they just refer the student to the overview pages, and that refers them to a craft book that has the details. It does have the forms to do both the president and state cards (not that fancy, you could probably make up your own template). It would have all the Literature worksheet is you wanted to use those as well. Mapping is usually listed, but on heavy weeks it will refer to the overview sheet (same with timeline).
Guess it depends on what parts you want to use if it is worth it to you.
I did see someone has all 4 disks on up for sale (on these boards) for a really good price.
