DD will be in 9th grade next year. I need some input from others. I will give a little background. She went to Public school until 6th grade (lots of Physical science). In 6th grade we didn't get much science done but what we ended up with was more physical science. In 7th we stated out with Rainbow science and it wasnt a good fit so we switched to Apologia General science. So we covered some physical in 7th grade. This year we are doing Apologia Physical science.

Next year I have decided to go with BJU Dvd's for 9th grade but, they do Physical science. If I tell my dd that we will be doing physical science again she is not going to be very happy, and I understand why. So, I am thinking of maybe doing the Earth and space science course with her. I know this is an 8th grade course, but have heard it is rigorous enough for high school. If not, maybe I can supplement with something (not sure what).

My other thoughts are to do the Biology in the 9th but I fear it is going to be to much for an average 9th grader. Any thoughts on this?

Does anyone have any ideas what else we could do. Keep in mind that I am not very science minded, this is the reason for the DVD's. Also, I need something that is not teacher intensive because of time restraints.

Blessings!

I have heard nothing but fantastic reviews about this course. I also know that many on this board have said that it could be used for ninth grade.

The Earth/Space science course is rigorous enough for high school and you won't need to add anything to it. I have a friend whose 9th grade dd is using it and it is enough.

Biology is good for 9th grade. You might do some pre reading about the vocabulary earlier if possible. Biology is a lot of vocab. When you go to college if its required the odds are it will be quite a bit different material so you won't have to worry that you have "forgotten" it. The other subjects line up more closely to the college sciences, so once you start chemistry or physics the courses will build and then it will be similar to the college courses. It's a long time from 9th to college so you would want to do something that helps you, but you don't have to be fresh.
