Had a great conference

with dd's teacher. It was very comforting to find that he and I share the same opinions about the math program he is required to use. (TERC Investigations). I had suspected as much due to the drill programs he was using to supplement, and that he is older and remembers when calculators weren't allowed.

He was warm and polite and very accepting of the information I provided about dd's years homeschooling. He is also the father of five, grandfather of 3 and excellent at dealing with normal 8 yo behavior. This includes my "social butterfly" as her put it, smiling. I feel like I can relax about this year. Now I have to start praying for a good teacher next year!

My ds1"s teacher is also not thrilled with the Everyday Math she is required to teach and does some supplementing. I think after talking with her that next year, I am just going to homeschool them in math and request that while Everyday Math instruction is going on, my children do math sheets provided by me.
