Oops! That should read "combining"
I keep hearing these two go well together. What would this actually look like? Are there any resources to assist?
Thanks!

Have you seen amblesideonline.com? We use their literature suggestions, and art, but use WTM for most of the rest.

I simply tend to think of it as keeping lessons shorter, including more living books (and older books) in our readings for all subject areas, and being more heavily into reading/discussing than filling out workbooks.
For science, while we may still study chemistry and physics in elementary, we tend to study those topics that better tie in with nature and we still include nature study each year. For chemistry, for instance, we may study the chemistry of cooking and talk about chemicals produced by various plants and animals to help them with their lives, etc. Similarly, with physics, we may study the physics of animal adaptations and how those ideas have been borrowed by man for technology, etc.

Have you read WTM and Charlotte Mason's books? Real Learning by Elizabeth Foss would be a good read, I'm reading it now. Jenny Sockey's book about combining Charlotte Mason and Classical is not worth buying, see if you can get it from the library.
I think reading WTM/Classical education and Charlotte Mason's books will provide you with enough information to formulate your own mix that fits your family. Also check out www.classical-homeschooling.org
Best wishes in finding what works for your family!

I have just started reading WTM. I've read A Charlotte Mason companion. I appreciate knowing about the Jenny Sockey book. I saw it on Christianbook.com and wondered if it was worth buying. I will check the other book and website you mentioned.
Thanks everyone!

You've been given excellent advice already! :iagree: What they've said is basically the approach I'm taking with my younger dc. Wish I'd had this figured out in time to benefit my older dc, too!
