OK, we've done this for 2 weeks. We just finished our first cycle of private dates and it's been a success. Well, at least it's a success for everyone but one person in the family.

Dd 7 has ADHD--both kinds. The hyperactity and the impulsivity. OK I didn't really expect this to be her "thing" but I thought that it was a better step in the direction of putting in place an incredibly predictable "schedule." She did it once. Now she's flatly refusing to do it. Even the motivation of her self-chosen date--a manicure/pedicure at a salon isn't helping.

Any thoughts? I think it's because she's comparing herself to my capable 9 yo who after a week of doing chores to the music figured out that it's completely possible to do ALL her chores before the alarm rings at 7 a.m. For the record, this is what I wanted to happen. Dd 9 just needed a boost to get it all going right. Ds 5 loves the rigid predictability of the morning & evening routine. He hasn't earned all the points each time, but he loves the challenge.

Perhaps it's a personality thingy or maybe it is related to the challenge of ADHD.

I love this program by the way. It's a wonderful "bookend" to our morning & evening. It's been a huge blessing despite the challenge of figuring out how to get our 7 yo on board.

CalicoKat,

Could you please tell me more about the program? I looked on their website but I could find hardly no information about what kind of songs are on the CD's. Could you help me find out more about it? Is it flexible in that it allows you to name your own chores or are there preselected ones already on the CD? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Also, do you think this would work for staggered wake up times? This is something I am trying to implement to help with schooling multiple ages and I am not sure how the miracle music would work if everyone wasn't getting up at the same time?

Thanks for any info!
