It is 2 weeks out from moving day. What do you expect your home to look like? How much should be packed. What is left out. Add in a 6 week old baby. 4 others who like to eat(and apparently none of the stuff that I am making because I am trying to clear out the freezer. I guess there was a reason it was at the bottom/back of the freezer.) I have 2bedrooms rooms completely packed..only furniture and a weeks worth of clothes out. Also in each is a large box of stuff to "do" already packed but available to keep them busy. All books are packed, drawers are empty, etc. My kitchen has not been touched at all. I feel like I have so much left, and yet I already feel like I am living out of boxes. I hate this in between stage. Why can't it just be over!!

My stuff is generally 1/4 of the way unpacked at the two week mark, much of it being kitchen stuff. However, I've never had a tiny infant while moving. We're now at the 8 week mark and I still have a few boxes here and there (probably 16 total, half of those books that need to be organized).
eta: My husband said to me the other day "It has *never* taken this long for us to get unpacked!" I had to remind him that he deployed overseas for 8 months only 4 weeks after our last move and on our move to Germany we were in temporary housing for 8 weeks without most of our household goods.

When I move I MUST unpack everything the first week and be rid of all boxes! We have moved about 5 times in the last 4 years..and this has held true, who knows how it will go now with a new baby!!! I just cannot stand being on this side of moving day!

OOooohhh. We only moved ourselves once and I swore to all that is holy I would NEVER do it again, EVER. It's horrible. I'm sorry, sending you lots of hugs and pleasant, calming thoughts. :grouphug:

We moved 6 weeks ago, and we have about 10 boxes left. But for the last 12 weeks we lived in chaos, ugh I hate moving. The worse part was I was busy the 2 days after the move so could not even set up the bed until 3 days after we move, so everynight the dogs invaded the bed:glare:we did not sleep well.
I packed all my dishes and left a couple of pots, we ate off of paper plates. A funny that happened we packed all the silverware the night before we moved, the next morning my kids had to eat breakfast of a putty knife :lol:IT was so funny!

We just moved in January. We had 2 weeks notice that we were moving. We did have a lot of stuff already packed from when we put our house on the market. The last week before our move was just a blur. The day of our move and leaving for SC - a nightmare. We were so tired. It took forever to load a 53" truck with our household and my mom's. It was raining and awful. This was my first big move. We were not very well prepared. The good news was that we had a lot of family to unload the truck and it only took about 4 hours. My house is still not in order because my mom and my sister are living with us. We have her entire household stored in every extra nook and cranny of our house. Granted we moved to a much larger house, but still. She will be moving the first week of April and I cannot wait to unpack more stuff. There is a small problem though... we are using some of her furniture! So, we need to find money for a few things or we will be sitting on the bare floor in some rooms! LOL!

My family has told us that they'll help us move in the future but they absolutely refuse to touch the boxes of heavy books! :glare:

I did not have a baby with our last move (and we moved ourselves.. never again). By 2 weeks out, I had all nonessential items packed. Most all school stuff was packed but for a few main subjects.
I had weaned us down to one pan, large pot, one small, a set of silverware for each of us (washed after each use), the Espesso Machine, minimal cooking tools, towels for clean-up, cleaning items, etc.
Last minute we threw clothes into garbage bags to be tossed onto the truck, rounded the animals into the cars and made at least three trips to move the painful nine miles.
I've often heard cross-town moves are the worst. I've done it three times now and our next move better be a big one! :smilielol5:

that, no matter how lazy/apathetic I am, when the date approaches rapidly, I get a lot packed in a short period of time.
It's better for me when I have a deadline and the whole place has to be cleared out instead of like last time - moving from a shack on the property into the house. One full year after we had officially moved in, we still had odds and ends at the old shack.
Kitchen stuff you don't need can go in boxes by now. I always leave a few things to the last day or buy paperplates - or eat out if this is an option.
All pictures and knick knacks would be packed by now. Non-essentials - some off season clothes etc could be packed.
Since you are an experienced mover you will most certainly get through this one as well - even though it's rarely fun.
