Where do you KEEP your microscope?

We have the SL microscope, and I don't know where to keep it! In our old house, we had a laundry room with cabinets above the washer/dryer, and I kept it there - easy access, but away from the little people. :glare:

Now, we don't have that. We do have a basement, but it's unfinished and contains a pool table, mini-basketball hoop, and general chaos, so I have visions of the microscope hitting the floor.

I'm really just wondering - do you keep it boxed up somewhere, and haul it out to use, or do you keep it set up somewhere?

Ours is on the top shelf in our school room. Not set up but in sight so that the kids think to ask for it just for fun. I wanted it to be used for school as well as fun but I can't just leave it out with a 5 and 3yo in the house.

I keep mine in a plastic bag, to keep dust out, on a high shelf. During the spring I set it up on a little table for frequent use. Once the interest passes, I pack it back up.

I like to keep ours out for those impromptu peeks at whatever we happen to find. I find if I keep it in the case tucked away, we don't bother to use it much. I actually keep it on the bookshelf. My kids are older though, so it's not as likely to get broken as with littles about.

Ours is on the top shelf of one of our homeschool bookcases in our playroom.

I keep it in its cover on our "science" table (shares space with a couple fish tanks, and a whole bunch of fossils, rocks, shells, dead things :001_huh:, and such.

I keep mine in the Styrofoam it cam in and in a cupboard off my mud room. Its in-between the garage and dining room. We pull it out as we need it, or want to use it. Keeping it put away also helps from it getting dusty or dirty.
