...on our private road (where he could be found by my loving children who already OWN four dogs) is a world-class JERK!
That is all. :angry::cursing::angry::cursing::angry::cursing:

Okay, I just have to ask...are you keeping this adorable loving yellow dog? Even with 4 dogs, I'd still be tempted...but I'm a real softy! cats, dogs, all strays find our house!;)

It makes me sick, how many humans treat animals. :cursing:
I often wonder how we would fair, if we were no longer at the top of the food chain.

At some point you must have so many it doesn't matter any more. ;)

Well, I just made a vet appointment for him to see if he's worm-free and the like, so I guess we'll see from there... We are a bunch of softies here, too, so this is wreaking havoc on our day. It would cost $100 to drop him at the closest no-kill shelter (because we are outside city limits), so a trip to the vet will be less than that...
GRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!

LOL Yes and no. ;) He's intact, so that means neutering (chaCHING)...he may have heartworms (double chaCHING)...I don't know. :( If he is in good health over all, dee-aitch said it was up to me whether or not to keep him. :glare: He has to learn manners and NOT to eat chickens. Also, we have vacation planned next month, so a new dog equals more kennel fees (triple chaCHING).
Dd just announced that his name is Pongo so it may all be over now...
I guess this means I can scratch "second great dane" off my Christmas list... Stupid dog-dumper... :cursing: :cursing:
ETA: BONGO! They're calling him Bongo now.

Well, thank God they chose your road and not the road of some moron who'd neglect or harm the dog. Maybe they knew you by reputation or something and purposely left the dog there, knowing you'd care for it.
Either way, I'm glad Pongo has a new home. :D

But if you tell me the name of your road, you might have a couple of Eskies show up to keep your Border Collies out of trouble http://www.thesmilies.com/smilies/silly/neenerneener.gif (http://www.thesmilies.com).
Seriously, that stinks. At least he's friendly, right?

I have a pomeranian who could use a good home. :biggrinjester:
I'll even throw in a few of my neighbor's dogs who "use" my yard every day... :banghead:

*snort* I can't even begin to imagine what kind of nightmare that would be! I picture one giant ball of black and white fluff, yapping till dawn, and playing chickenball. ;)

 Too bad DMIL just left with her chihuahua yesterday. If she came back, then the tiny dogs could scheme against the cat, the herding/sledding dogs (mine and JudoLops') could continue with the noisy chickenball, and the crazy indoor dogs could just laugh, smoke cigars, and wave out the window while continuing their hand of poker...
It's just. that. kind. of day. ;)

I personally would consider myself fortunate that someone dumped a HE...
The last dog that was dumped near my boyfriend's house was a SHE, and after no one answered the ad in the paper for her and he built a pen for her (so no male dogs would come around, doncha know), she started gaining weight--and not the weight of good food and fine accomodations.

My vet will check him for microchip ID tomorrow. Meanwhile, I'm going to post a few signs, just in case.

I think today was a good day for that yellow dog:) If I were God, you would definitely get an extra star for your crown. Of course, if I were God, heaven would need a lot of chew toys.

Due to poor weather (and car trouble) last week, I was unable to get the poor dumped dingo to our vet. He spent the week here, terrorizing chickens, chewing up the lattice under our house, disconnecting various wires, and howling.
The "found" signs I placed yielded no distraught owner, so dee-aitch and I decided this morning to suck it up and pay to have the dingo placed at a no-kill shelter. It was fun having him around, but even the dc agreed that he was pretty disruptive. I'm sure he'll be someone's perfect dingo. :)
Thank you for the kind and funny words about my situation; they were very uplifting. :)

Thanks for the update. He sounds like he needs a home with constant supervision - maybe a rich bachelor who can exercise him all day?!!! :D That was so kind of you to take care of him so long.

I was running through my neighborhood and a newly dumped puppy (BIG PUPPY) started following me. He was soooooo sweet. I have two cats and a dog. My neighborhood assoc. only allows three pets so I am at my limit. The sweet little puppy (BIG puppy) actually was smart enough to start bumping his noses on my leg and yelping for me to stop, he was tired! I kept running, we passed a family walking and he took up with them, much to the mom's unhappiness. Now I wish I would have brought him home. I keep wondering what happened to him and if he is okay. See, if you don't keep Bongo, you will always wonder...:001_smile:

Okay, I just read the rest of the posts. I am so happy you placed him in a no kill shelter, anyway. He will find a happy home there. Much better plan than my "just keep running until the dog gets tired and stops following" plan!:tongue_smilie:
