Math Experts: Need some input about next year...(7th grade)
Currently 6th grade ds is working through Lial's Basic College Math. We have Lial's Introductory Algebra purchased for next year, but we are not married to it if there is something better.

I've heard alot about Jacob's. Is this something that you would recommend over Lials? If so, what level would you put him in?

He is having success with Lial's this year. Maintaining approx a 94% if that has any bearing on your opinion. Thanks.

If your son is doing well with Lial there is no real reason to switch.
The Lial series is a strong series---and one of my favorites.:001_smile:

Jacobs covers the same material--but the lessons are more 'entertaining'--and may be overly wordy for some students. Jacobs also stops after Geometry--they do not have an Algebra 2.

Many of the students I work with have chosen to stay with Lial--but they opt for Jacobs for Geometry. Lial's Geometry is basic/solid--but it is also a bit dry--not to mention the fact that there are no DVTs for this level.
