I have several different comforters, blankets, and quilts that need to be washed. They so do not fit in my washer. What do I do?
Is there someplace I can drop them off and have them washed for me?
Would a laundromat have a large enough washer? How would I know?
What do you do with your bed coverings?

My neigbor always used to take her comforters to one before we became friends and she just uses mine now :D You might not be able to drop it off, but any laundromat should have one...call ahead to be sure.
believe me it is worth it. Alternately, you could find a pay laundromat that has oversize machines.

I usually take our large blankets and quilts to the laudromat and wash them myself. They do have a drop-off service (look for laundromats that advertise "wash & fold"), but for blankets it's more than I'm willing to pay. Worth looking into, though.

What you want at a laundromat is a large front-loader washing machine. The one at ours takes something like $4 or $5 in quarters for a load. (Bring your own soap, as it's cheaper than buying there.) I drape down comforters over a bannister at home for a couple of days, even though they've been through the laundromat dryer a few times, to give them a chance to dry completely.

I take our large comforter to a laundromat and wash it myself. You might want to call ahead to make sure they have large capacity washers, because some don't. I chose not to take the drycleaning option because it was too pricey for me. My kids think it is a novel experience when we get to go to the laundromat. I'm so airheaded sometimes, though, that the first time we went I forgot to take detergent and forgot to take money for the machines!

I am certain I would do something like this. I would have the comforters in the car and think I had everything. :001_rolleyes:
Wow! You ladies are great!
So, I have to find a laundromat with a large washer - which means I have to make cold-calls (I hate that!). Or I have to find a drycleaner that also does laundry which means more cold-calls.
I'm starting to sweat now.
But, I will suck it up and do it. Putting this off for four years hasn't helped anyone.

1. fill bathtub less than halfway w/ water and laundry soap.
2. place comforter/blanket in bathtub.
3. have kids stomp it clean.
4. let water out. refill to rinse.
5. have kids stomp it rinsed.
6. let water out.
7. have kids stomp excess water out.
8. hang to dry.
I do this w/ pillows cuz i hate seeing them get all messed up in the washer, lol.
no calling needed! But any laundromat that has more than a couple washing machines should have one big enough for your blankets. If the kids are old enough, write a scripted question and let them make the call --good experience for them :)
