History book for 6th grader

[San Marcos Classical]

Has anyone a substitute for The Kingfisher Encyclopedia for Renaissance history (roughly SOTW 3 time period). My son will be in the 6th grade and quite frankly, he's not completely thrilled with outlining Kingfisher.

Reformation by Nothing New Press? I wasn't sure if you wanted something elsefor him to outline or something as an alternative tooutlining. The Guerber books are nice narratives, but I don't think they would be good to outline. Just my $0.02
