Montana State - Bozeman. $24,000 over four years. DS is still working on essays to apply for a full ride there. And still has 8 more colleges to hear from. This is fun.

Let me be the first here to congratulate you.
But "fun"? I'm not there yet.

That's wonderful! Merit based? What kind of scores if you don't mind me asking?

Based on ACT/SAT scores. He was a 28. One point higher and it would have been $30,000. Kid in upper 30s get $60,000. Yeah Montana - Illinois doesn't give money like this (which is why he is not applying to in-state public places.)

Fantastic! It is fun finally seeing the results of your hard work "paying" off. I keep reminding my remaining boys that the more they save us on college expenses, the more we can spend on vacations :-).

Congratulations. I agree that seeing the money offers come in is definitely more fun than most of the rest of the process (though I've enjoyed visiting too). The paperwork involved, on the other hand...
We're sending out more scholarship applications this week...

Yup - there is a direct link between trips and snowboarding, and college expenses.

Congratulations! It is fun to hear these coming in.
Congrats! If he decides to go there, and you want more information, feel free to PM me. I grew up in Bozeman. It's a pretty, little town with a hippy-ish feel and good skiing close by.

I know - I need to stop myself bragging - I think it is a compulsion. At the same time this kid is applying to colleges, we are setting up a guardianship for his fraternal twin with autism who will never live independent of us. It is a bittersweet time right now. I should be having TWO kids applying to college. Oh, well.

Brag away. I love hearing about it all. It is especially fun if it is all working out. And yes, I can see that it would be bittersweet.

Don't stop! It's stories like this that get us through the high school years. When you can see the fruit of your labor paying off - and that happens in many ways (scholarships, internships, jobs, college acceptances, etc.) - it makes all the rest worthwhile.
Looking forward to launching my next one in another year...then 2 more kiddos to go :-)
