from 1997, starring Armand Assante. Would it be okay for my 11 and 13 year olds to watch? I can't find the Kirk Douglas one anywhere.

It's been a while, but I think it's okay for that age. There is all the stuff with Circe, but I don't recall that there was anything overly sexual.....

I haven't seen it recently either, but I remember enjoying it, and I don't have any recollection of anything that would be inappropriate for young teens.

If this was the miniseries (Bernadette Peters as Aphrodite...I think she played this greek god:glare:)
I just rented through netflix, then I would say "yes", with a strong warning.
There are 2 cases of adultery (ugh, Odysseus!) and a bit of kissing.....my kids just put their heads down and giggled (I usually tell them to "cover your eyes"). Overall, it is wonderful with good special effects. Some scary parts also.

What she said....

Its a great movie and not too cheesy. Yes, great special effects and scenery. Also loved "Troy" w/ Brad Pitt -- although the movie was such a digression from the book.

Just wanted to update my comments on this: I got it out of the library, and it is apparently rated PG-13. There is some violence and one scene of Penelope rolling around on the beach apparently in some, um, longing for her husband. There are more comments at imdb.com on what was left out of the story or changed. HTH!

There is an animated version listed on Netflix. I haven't seen it but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone is looking for another option.
