was not a total wash out after all!
He wrote a story, not an essay, for the essay, and made an 8. He got a 640 for writing!
And here I thought they wouldn't even look at what he wrote...:D

Terrific!! It's heartening to know that the reader's can recognize creativity. And, I bet [I]they[I]enjoyed reading something a bit unique too. WEll done and congrats to your ds.

I feel your pain. Writing was DD's highest score, and yet most of the colleges to which she was applying took only the math and reading scores. Sigh . . .
